The awards ceremony for JITCO’s 19th Japanese Essay Contest was held on October 7, 2011, in Tokyo. The contest is held to offer encouragement to technical intern trainees and trainees who are learning Japanese and to allow them to express in their own words the things they have felt during their training period. We received 3,814 entries for this year’s contest.
In the ceremony, technical intern trainees whose essays were chosen after strict examination received certificates of commendation and prize money, and winners of the First Prize recited their essays to the audience. The prizewinning essays will be compiled into a booklet titled “The Award-winning Essays Collection of Japanese essay contest for technical interns and trainees” and sent to relevant organizations. Some of the essays will also be posted on our Website for your reading enjoyment.
The contest will be held again next year. Calls for entries will be made in “Technical Intern Trainees’ Mate,” as well as in the “Kakehashi” journal and on our Website (around February 2012). We look forward to the entry.
