\u2192Application Guidelines for the Japanese Essay Contest<\/a><\/p>\n

When applying for the JITCO Japanese Essay Contest for Foreign Technical Intern Trainees, you need to use Japanese manuscript paper. Please refer to the information below:<\/p>\n

1.Paper<\/span><\/dt>\n
Please use A4-size 400-character Japanese manuscript paper<\/strong><\/span> on which squares are printed.<\/dd>\n
2.Handwriting tool<\/span><\/dt>\n
Any handwriting tool may be used. When using a pencil, however, please use an 2B grade or darker pencil.<\/dd>\n
3.Vertical\/horizontal writing<\/span><\/dt>\n
You may write vertically or horizontally. Please start writing from the upper right corner with the paper set long from side-to-side when writing vertically. If you are writing horizontally, the shorter side of the paper should be at the top.<\/dd>\n
4.Title and name<\/span><\/dt>\n
At Japanese schools, titles and names are usually placed inside the grid. For the JITCO essay contest, however, they should be placed outside the grid.

5.One character in one square as a general rule<\/span><\/dt>\n
In principle, please write one character in one square.
\nSmall \u300c\u3083\u300d\u300c\u3085\u300d\u300c\u3087\u300d\u300c\u3063\u300d, \u300c\u3093\u300d, punctuation marks ( \u3002 \u3001 ), and symbols ( \u300c \u300d\uff08 \uff09!, etc.) should also use one square.
\nIf a quotation mark is used immediately after a period ( \u3002), however, the quotation mark and period should be placed in one square.

If a line starts with a punctuation mark ( \u3002 \u3001), it should be moved to the last square of the previous line.
\n(You may also write punctuation marks outside squares.)

6.Orientation of characters and symbols<\/span><\/dt>\n
(ⅰ)A long sound \u300c\u30fc\u300d(for example, \u300c\u30d7\u30fc\u30eb\u300d\u300c\u30bf\u30ef\u30fc\u300d) must be written vertically, it should be written as \u300c\uff5c\u300d.
